Sound and relaxation

Music

The sound side of a session: binaural beat music, noise cancelling headphones and a voice that is only ever speaking to you.

Why sound matters

Music is part of the therapy, not background noise

Relaxation and breathing techniques are part of every session at New Day Therapies. Sound is what carries them. The right music helps the body settle before the mind does, which is usually the order it happens in.

Binaural beats

Binaural beat music plays through noise cancelling headphones alongside my voice, using the Hypnocom machine. Because it is piped directly to your ears, there is nothing else competing for your attention - no traffic outside, no door down the corridor.

About the Hypnocom

Relaxation and meditation

Meditation and visualisation form part of the creative life coaching work, alongside gratitude diaries, vision boards and mandalas. Sound gives those exercises something to settle into.

Sleep

As a Sleep Consultant and Relaxation Professional Therapist, I use sound as part of the work on sleep and rest. There is a longer piece on sleep on the blog.

Taking it home

Much of what we use in a session can be practised between appointments. Ask and I will point you towards what suits you, rather than handing everybody the same playlist.
